The Days of Noah

Danny McDowell

Since there is no question as to whether or not Jesus referred to the “Days of Noah” in connection with the gathering of the elect, it seems the responsible thing to investigate the “Days of Noah.”

Genesis 6:1-7:13
1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. 5And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. 8But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 9These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 10And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 13And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 15And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 16A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. 17And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. 18But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee. 19And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. 20Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. 21And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. 22Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Chapter 7
1And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 2Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. 3Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. 4For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

5And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him. 6And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth. 7And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. 8Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth, 9There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah. 10And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. 11In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. 13In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;”

Looking at “THE DAYS OF NOAH”
Verse 6:1-2
: 1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.”

Most Bible students believe the “Sons of God” to be fallen angels and that the Satanic plan of that day was to corrupt the pure seed of Adam, thereby, disrupting the plan of redemption through the “Seed of the Woman,” Christ himself.

Verse 3-4: 3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men, which were of old, men of renown.”

The Lord was grieved that he had ever created man. The depravity of that day exceeded even the depravity of our times. The very thought of Hybrid human beings was repulsive and disgusting to THE MAKER of MAN.

Verse 5: 5And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

The wickedness of man was unbearable to the point that God was “grieved in His heart.”

Verse 7: 7And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.”

The Lord decides that He will NOT “punish man,” but that He will destroy Him altogether. Does this really sound like a relatively nice place to live as portrayed by pre-tribulationists? Spend a few moments thinking about what it really is that these people are saying. God was disgusted and sick in His heart because of the condition of man!

Verse 8: 8But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”

The earth was corrupt and FILLED WITH VIOLENCE!

Verse 12: 12And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.”

ALL FLESH WAS CORRUPTED upon the earth!
Relative peace and safety?

NONSENSE!

Verse 13: 13And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”

The decision is made.

Verse 14: 14Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.”

Build an ARK!

Verse 18: 18But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.”

The promise of redemption.

Verse 21: 21And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.”

Directions for preparation. There is much criticism today, toward those who are preparing for difficult times. Was Noah less than these?

Verse 22: 22Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”

Verse 7:1-5: 1And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 5And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.”

This passage has been utterly perverted by many pre-tribulationists. It is said that this directive given 7 days prior to the actual flood is proof that Noah was aboard the ARK 7 days prior to wrath. Some even say it was a “Day of Grace” to allow others to repent – we’ll see!

Verses 7:6-10: 6And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth. 10And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.”

The ARK was loaded and after 7 days, the flood came!

Verses 11-13: 11In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. 13In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;”

In the 6 hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day “the fountains of the deep were opened: IN THE SELF SAME DAY, Noah entered the Ark. On the “SAME DAY,” that the wrath of God came, Noah entered the ARK.

Luke 17:26-30: 26And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. 28Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”

The old testament as well as the new testament, reveal the same story. Eight people entered the Ark, and eight people arrived safely after the flood. No One was “LEFT BEHIND” to be saved at a later date.

Matthew 25:1-12: 1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.”

Once the bridegroom comes for the bride, IT IS OVER! No one will be permitted in at a later date. NO ONE!

No one knows the Day nor the Hour.
Matthew 24:42:

It is taught in pre-tribulationism that the words of Jesus indicate that the gathering of the elect support the “THIEF” theory. Once again, we must look a little closer at the passage to understand the true meaning.

“KNOW” Strongs Reference # 1492: Greek – Iedo (eedo) to now know, always in the present “perfect” tense. As opposed to;

“KNOW” Strongs Reference # 1097: Greek – Ginosko (ghinoosko) “to perceive and understand.”

In each and EVERY passage where it is declared “No man KNOWS the day nor the hour,” the Greek work IEDO is used. It simply means no man NOW knows the day nor hour. Each and every time this phrase is used, it is ALWAYS attached to the clear admonition to WATCH for the signs of His coming. ALL THE SIGNS!

In Matthew 24 (the Olivet Discourse), the command to watch for the signs of His (Jesus) coming, both PRECEED and FOLLOW (the statement “No man KNOWS (IEDO) the day nor hour.” The Lord has made it emphatically clear, that we must KNOW (ginosko – to understand, to perceive) the watch.

A simple example is this: you’re driving down a highway, there are no mile markers. You do not KNOW (IEDO) how much further to your destination until you see some identifiable markers saying “Kingdom City – 5 miles,” then you begin to KNOW (ginosko) some detail. As you drive further, you see a sign “Kingdom City – Next Exit, ¼ mile”.

Now you KNOW (ginosko) even more, and so-on until you arrive at the corner of Matthew and 24th street where you make a right hand turn till you come to the crossing of 24th street and 30th Avenue. Now you KNOW (IEDO and Ginosko) where you are. This is exactly what these passages say.

You must ALWAYS weigh what is VAGUE in scripture, against what is EMPHATIC. When you are confronted by this conflict, you MUST ALWAYS dig deeper. These things are NOT unknown to those educated in pre-tribulation theology. This makes them all the more accountable for their utterly false doctrine!

Jesus declared to his disciples (and the Church of the Ages) – You do not NOW know, so you must watch for the signs, and as you BEGIN to see the signs, you will KNOW that more and more signs are forth coming, and then suddenly you will arrive at that LAST SIGN preceding the gathering of the elect when “THE SUN BECOMES DARK as SACK CLOTH, THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE HER LIGHT, THE POWERS OF THE HEAVEN SHALL BE SHAKEN AND THE SON OF MAN and He shall send His ANGELS to gather His elect from Heaven (the dead who rise first) and earth (those who are alive and remain unto His coming).”

Mark 13:24-31: 24But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 26And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. 28Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: 29So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. 30Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. 31Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”

I Thessalonians 4:13-17: 13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Blessed will be that day when the Union of “IEDO” and “GINOSKO” comes to pass, for THEN, the rapture will become…

IMMINENT!
